Clarksburg Woman Killed By Drunk Driver
Recently Mr. Colombo represented a Clarksburg family whose loved one was killed
by an intoxicated driver who had just left a methadone clinic. On September 19,
2006 the intoxicated driver left the methadone clinic in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
The intoxicated driver drove approximately 1 mile, blacked out, crossed the center
line and struck and killed an innocent victim. Immediately following the accident
the intoxicated driver had slurred speech, glassy eyes and was obviously intoxicated.
The victim of this senseless tragedy was a registered nurse on her way to work at
United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. She was a mother of three and a loving wife.
Mr. Colombo, on behalf of the Plaintiffs, claimed that the methadone clinic knew
or should have known that their patient was intoxicated and should not have permitted
him to operate a motor vehicle in this state of intoxication. After a brief period
of discovery a confidential settlement was reached on behalf of the decedent’s estate.
